Questions

The following are a few things you should know about an alteration.  Two or three fittings should be expected in order to ensure the perfect fit.  I will need a few months to work on the garment as well. The first fitting and estimate of the dress is free if it is left with me. Depending on how busy my schedule is I may need to add a rush order fee as well.

How long does it take to receive my custom dress?

All custom gowns require 6 to 8 months for completion. This allows 4 to 6 weeks for custom fabric orders, and 4 to 6 months for design, construction, and 4 to 6 fittings. Gowns are finished no later than two months prior to event date. Rush orders are available upon request, additional charges may apply.

What should I expect from a custom dress?

A custom dress is a perfect fitting garment with excellent tailoring and couture-craft sewing. You can buy no finer garment then one created specifically for you.

Is my garment unique?

Yes, every gown and dress I design is made specifically for you. You can rest assured that you will not see a duplicate anywhere.

Where can I get my fabric?

An investment of custom made clothing deserves to be constructed of the best fabric you can afford. Natural fibers or superior quality synthetics will be your best fabric choices. I source fabric from the USA and Europe. A catalog with hundreds of designer’s laces for custom ordering is available to view in my studio. The fabric is almost as important as the design itself. It is not a good idea to order prior to the consultation, but I do recommend that you bring swatches. Choosing the fabric before designing the dress will limit the design potential.

What are your payment terms?

An initial deposit of 25% of the total price is due upon signing the work agreement for the custom garment, alteration, or any dress making service. An additional deposit is required before the fabric and other materials are ordered. Interim payments of 25% of the total price will be expected at each fitting. The final balance due is payable upon completion of the custom garment.

What is your return policy?

Non refundable items: special orders, custom made or custom sized items are not refundable.

What about security and privacy?

I take great effort to assure that your privacy is fully protected. I do not share or sell personal information to anyone, or send unsolicited e-mail.

How much should I expect to pay for my custom gown?

The cost of a custom bridal gown varies based on fabric selection and the complexity of the design. Once I review your requirements during your free consultation, I will provide you with a cost estimate.

What to expect with fittings?

Once the design is complete and the fabric selected I am ready to start the project. There will be 4 to 6 fittings.  When you come for fittings, please bring the shoes and lingerie that you will be wearing on your wedding day. These are two things that can affect the look and the fit of the dress so make sure you have them for all your fittings.
